de coney island recuerdo los colores, la gente, los carteles pintados a mano, los famosos hot dogs de nathan's en el banco de la playa, las historias de laverne (esa señora tan simpática), las risas y el ruido de los raíles de la montaña rusa, las predicciones de la abuela y la sensación de ·esto no puede ser de verdad· que me acompañó todo el día. espero que tengáis un poquito de eso estos días, feliz fin de semana a todos!

decir -sí quiero- rodeada de globos de colores, de tiras de bombillitas, de casetas con besos a 50 ct, de tanta madera, de máquinas de palomitas y montañas de caramelos, de invitados con piruletas, llevando bambas azul marino, en una granja de savannah reconvertida en feria por un día, es lo más increíble que he visto últimamente. me deshago con cada una de las fotos de la boda de adam y halli, desde su web y las fotos de compromiso, hasta los metros y metros de tela de circo colocadas por la familia y amigos, o los novios-de-pastel más bonitos que he visto nunca. y qué decir de las fotos que se fueron haciendo en el fotomatón de la boda (pirámides humanas! oh! :)

hace dos semanas y muchos años después, volví a subir a Berga a celebrar La Patum, una fiesta de origen medieval que en 2005 fue declarada patrimonio de la humanidad por la unesco (uau!). el olor a pólvora y la música me recordaron a cuando era tan pequeña que mi padre aún podía llevarme a hombros y a esa mezcla de miedo y emoción que sentía!

two weeks ago, and after many years, i came back to Berga to enjoy La Patum, a popular festival whose origin can be traced to medieval festivities and parades and that was declared as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005 (wow!). the smell of gunpowder and the music reminded me when i was so small that even my father could carried me in his shoulders and that mixture of fear and excitement that i felt!

and i can't finish this post without talking about vicente ferrer, who passed away this week. this incredible catalan philanthropist spent his life working to improve the lives of the poor in the mission he founded in Southern India. he tried to give them back their dignity and make them happy. it's a nice way of living your life, isn't it? this is his foundation.

rebuscando en el blog descubrí que tenía un post con esta foto guardado en el cajón desde marzo.. eran las primeras pruebas de las nuevas cosas que querían convertirse en nueva colección, y las fotos las hice para enseñárselas a mis tres preciosas amigas. ellas me dijeron, -pero súbelas al blog!- y yo pensé, -oh no, que aún está todo a medias!
han ido pasando los días y los días y los días y yo he seguido haciendo pruebas y pruebas y pruebas.. y aunque aún no puedo decir que no esté todo a medias, creo que este post se merecía ver mundo y que el mundo le viera a él.

searching through the blog i realized i had this post with this picture kept in the drawer from march.. these were the first tests of the new stuff of what it was suppose to be a new collection, and i took the photos to show them to my beloved friends. they told me: -make a post with them!- and i thought -oh no, it's still not finished!-
and after a lot of days and a lot of tests, and although i still can't say this is not finished, i think this post deserved to see the world and to be seen by the world

y cogimos el metro y fuimos en busca de rascacielos. uau, qué impresión salir y ver esos edificios tan, y tan y tan altos... y descubrir que no todo era gris.

la primera tarde en Nueva York fue preciosa. el barrio en el que estábamos estaba lleno de galerías de arte y ese jueves casi todas inauguraban exposición. cervezas gratis en cajones con hielo y como el resto, fuimos yendo de galería en galería. de todas maneras, lo mejor fue seguir caminando hacia el río y ver como atardecía. el viaje empezaba de la mejor manera..

our first evening in New York was wonderful. our neighborhood was full of art galleries and most of them were celebrating their opening receptions that day. free beers in iceboxes and a lot of people going from one gallery to the other. anyway, the best came later when we walk around the river at dusk. what a beautiful way to start our trip..

con los pies aquí, pero la cabeza aún allí.. ya estamos de vuelta!
qué bonito todo, qué bonitos los parques y las calles llenas de árboles verdes, qué bonitos los ladrillos rojos y los "have a nice day", qué bonitos los pasteles y cupcakes y los zumos de frutas fresquitas, qué bonitos el sol y la lluvia e incluso el frío cuando hacía calor, qué bonito sorprenderte en cada vuelta-de-la-esquina..

después de irnos pasando los paquetes a través de su nuevo jardín, comimos croquetas caseras, y tortillas de patatas y buñuelos de bacalao y bebimos unas cervezas y les deseamos toda la suerte del mundo!

after carrying all the packages through their new garden, we ate homemade croquettes, and spanish omelette and cod fritters and drank some beers and we wished them all the luck in the world!

hace una semana estuvimos ayudando en una mudanza en la que hasta las cajas estaban contentas. yo no había visto un traslado tan ordenado en mi vida (quizás porque los nuestros siempre han sido un caos ,)
me reí muchísimo

y además, me enamoré de la escalera..

a week ago we were helping in a move of some friends of us in which even the boxes were happy. I had never seen such an organized move (maybe because ours have always been a chaos ,)

el delantal

el año pasado, cuando hacía poquito que nos conocíamos, me sorprendieron con unos regalos que decían: maaarta, pero lo de este año me dejó sin palabras y con alguna que otra lagrimilla tímida. no puede haber un regalo más bonito en todo el mundo...
este delantal precioso lo hicieron eva, pepa y natalia para mi cumpleaños. se lo fueron pasando de una en una y lo fueron haciendo por partes, así que hay un trocito de cada una de ellas en cada pedacito de este delantal. muchísimas muchísimas muchísimas gracias, qué suerte tener tres amigas como vosotras cerquita :D

* y me dijeron que habían hecho las cintas bien largas para que pudiera atármelo con un lazo grande graaande. aix..

last year, a few days after we met, they surprised me with some gifts that said .marta. in capital letters, but this year they left me speechless (and also with one or two tears of happiness). this must be the most beautiful gift in the entire world...
this beautiful apron was made by eva, pepa and natalia and they gave it to me last month as a birthday present. they made it step by step, passing it on from one to the other, so there is a little bit of each of them in every detail of this apron. many many many thanks, how lucky i am to have three friends as you nearby!
* look every lovely detail and how long the strips are. as they say, it is especially made for tie it up with a big ribbon!

oh, un ejército de madalenas!

parece mentira que hayan pasado ya dos semanas. siento muchísimo haber desaparecido estos días, nos vamos de viaje la semana que viene y estoy trabajando mucho mucho en algunas cosas nuevas. uixx... lo escribo y me dan ganas de buscar la opción -decirlo en voz bajita- porque a veces me da la sensación que no acabaré nunca!

i bake these muffins (madalenas in spanish) two weeks ago, but i hadn't posted the pics yet! i'm so sorry i've been missing these days. we are going on a trip next week and i've been very busy, working hard in some new stuff... ( ohh ) if only i could speak quietly cause sometimes it seems i'm never going to finish it.

estos días de lluvia y cielos azul-oscuro han sido también días de planes caseros. así que me armé de valor y me puse por fin a hacer madalenas! siempre he pensado que no conseguiría que subieran o que no estarían buenas, pero seguí la receta de ada y me di cuenta de lo fácil que es! un poco de azúcar - huevos - harina - una montaña de mantequilla - levadura - esencia de vainilla, unos super moldes como los que me regalaron eva, pepa y natalia para mi cumpleaños y al horno!

cuando vi cómo empezaban a subir no me lo podía creer!


these days of rain and dark blue skies have been also days of home-loving plans. so i couldn't let this chance pass me by and i finally made muffins! i've always thought that i wouldn't get them looking like muffins or they wouldn't taste good, but I followed ada's recipe and i realized how easy it is! sugar - eggs - flour - a mountain of butter - baking powder - vanilla essence, a few super baking pans like those that eva, pepa and natalia gave me for my birthday and a little bit of love ,)

when i saw how they began to rise i couldn't believe it!
